I hand carried on a flight, a bouquet of roses home from a friend's garden in Sacramento, CA to Denver, C).
With several flight delays I watched as one by one each rose wilted and died. This was the single surviving rose.
By the time I made it home, at 1 AM, I had no time to waste. I set the camera and lights up, and captured this photograph.
